Game Review

Ricky McLean suffered a bruised cheekbone and was replaced by Doug Baird at three-quarter time, and Brent Crosswell replaced Syd Jackson in the last quarter. Baird kicked two long goals in the final term, while Noel Mewett - in his first full game - was Carlton's leading scorer with 3 majors from the half-forward flank. These were Mewett's only goals for Carlton, before he was near-fatally injured in a car crash while returning to duty at Puckapunyal army camp in March, 1970.
