Game Review
Collingwood killed off Carlton's slim finals hopes in this tough and willing clash at Victoria Park. The Blues mounted a strong challenge in the third quarter and twice had shots a goal to hit the front, but missed both times.
Jack Howell played a lone hand up front again, with 4 goals.
Howell dominated in the ruck, but Peter Webster, and Harry Sullivan at full forward both missed repeated opportunities to goal. Wretched goal-kicking and turnovers ruined Carlton's chances with the wind in the second term. Only 10 points down and with the aid of the wind in the final quarter, Carlton could not break through the Woods' cool-headed defence.
