Game Review
With their season looking more and more like a train wreck, the Navy Blues faced finals-bound Fitzroy on their home turf in this match, and went within a whisker of pulling off another upset. Trailing by 23 points at half-time, the visitors launched a spirited comeback, and were desperately unlucky not to snatch the four points.
In his debut game for Carlton, former North Melbourne ruckman Bill Milroy was almost a hero when he snapped a brilliant goal with scores level in the dying moments, to give his side a great victory. But joy turned to despair when the field umpire disallowed the score, ruling that Milroy had kicked the ball a split-second after the siren.
The Blues remained eighth on the ladder, two points behind Richmond, and six points ahead of North Melbourne.
