Game Review
Pace and teamwork won the game for the Blues despite having a losing ruck, the Carlton rovers sharked the opposition hit outs and took full advantage. Bob Crowe the sixth full forward the Blues have tried this season kicked 6.5 and hit the post 3 times. Bob was fast and agile, took some nice marks and kicked a few long bomb goals. Laurie Kerr was fast and damaging, his delivery of the ball was accurate. Richmond tried three different players on him. Wingers Graham Gilchrist and John Chick were on top, as were defenders John James and Bruce Comben who played with dash and courage.Carlton coach Jim Francis
"Our fast, non stop type of play paid dividends and with young Bob Crowe, new full forward topping off the work away from goal, we won well. Our centre line won and the delivery of the ball was excellent. We played as a team and the backing up and the combination generally made me really happy. I'm not going to be foolish enough at this stage to say that we will win the 1956 premiership, but I will say we are moving along nicely."Scorers; Crowe 6.5, Kerr 3.3, Mills 2.1, Beasy 2.1, Donaldson 1.3, Nicholls 1.1, Chick 0.1, Milroy 0.1, Clarke 0.1.
Best; Kerr, Chick, Gilchrist, Beasy, Comben, James, Crowe.
