Game Review
The size of the loss was the surprise. But proved to be of no consequence as the year wore on. Daicos was the star with 7 goals as he gave Bruce Doull the run around. Daicos's influence in the next two encounters against the Blues including the Grand Final would be curtailed by Ken Hunter's close checking.Carlton officials were fuming over an incident that had Peter McConville in pain on Saturday. McConville was flattened after taking a mark and has a bruised groin for his trouble. It raises the question of what is and what is not reportable. I am not saying that any Collingwood player was guilty of an offence, but a player was hurt and there was at least a question mark over the lateness of the tackle. Over to you umpires. - Jim Main Inside Football
Collingwood stormed to the top of the VFL ladder with a big win over previous leaders Carlton. The Magpies kicked 11 goals straight immediately after the quarter time break while the Blues managed only 2.4 in the same time. - Football Record.
