Game Review

The Blues defeated the Tigers by 6 behinds in a low-scoring match in front of 21,000 people at Punt Road.
In a close fought match, the Blues were wasteful in front of goal which could have proved costly if it hadn't been their superb defence.

Did You See

"That phenomenal mark by Keith Warburton (Carlton) in the third quarter against Richmond? Or the way the same player handled the ball throughout the game? It could have been a dry day." (Argus 23 June)

White Football Used

"Another effort to allow the use of white, water-resistant footballs in league matches here on wet days may be made soon.
The white balls were used in two VFL league games - Collingwood v North Melbourne, Richmond v Carlton - and one VFA match, Northcote v Prahran, last Saturday.
Afterwards players and officials praised them as better than the standard brown ball for wet days. The waterproof ball was as light at the end of the term as at the start, and, accordingly, marking and handling were far above the usual wet day standard. Even at the end of the matches, players were kicking it long distances."
