J. Sharpe appears in the 1870 Carlton team list in the book "Origin of Australian Football.".

1866 July 7
Sharp was named in a Carlton Second Twenty squad that played East Collingwood at Princes Park.

1869 May 22
Sharp played in the opening match of the season against Geelong at Royal Park, on Queen's Birthday.

1869 September 4
Sharp named in 24 man Second Twenty/Reserves squad that played the Hobson's Bay Railway Club on the Melbourne Ground.

1870 May 28
Sharpe was named in the 23 man Second Twenty squad that played Collingwood in Royal Park.

1870 June 18
J. Sharpe was named in 23 man Second Twenty squad that played Albert Park at Albert park.

1871 July 1
Sharp named in Carlton Reserves team to play Albert Park at Albert Park.
