Jade Halfpenny was originally signed to the inaugural Port Adelaide side, playing six games for the Power. Halfpenny then starred for Norwood’s VFLW team in 2023, featuring in every game and winning best-on-ground in the SANFLW Grand Final and winning the best-and-fairest award. Halfpenny made her way to Carlton in July of 2024 as an injury replacement player for Erone Fitzpatrick. Known for her strong overhead marking ability and clean fundamentals via hand and foot, Halfpenny plays across the field, featuring mainly as a hybrid forward but occasionally in the midfield.

At the end of the 2024 season, Carlton has made four further changes to its AFLW list, opting to delist Lulu Beatty, Jade Halfpenny, Gen Lawson-Tavan, and Taylor Ortlepp after its four-win season. Both Lawson-Tavan and Halfpenny arrived at the Blues as inactive replacement signings, in 2023 and 2024 respectively, after stints at Sydney and Port Adelaide. Halfpenny ran out for two games this year in the Navy Blue.
