Peter Kenny was a small forward who played taller than his 183cm. He was recruited from ACT club Manuka, he first played at senior level with Swan Districts in the WAFL. He first played at Carlton in 1984, but due a poor run of injuries, he didn't play senior footy until 1986 with the Blues.

He was given his chance in 1986 and turned out a few impressive performances alongside Kernahan and Maclure in the Blues forward line. Kenny needed to make the most of his chances as he was often played from the interchange bench, and in one particular game against Melbourne in 1986, was given match time in the last quarter and responded with stats of 3 marks, 3 kicks and 3 goals. Despite Maclure's retirement at the end of 1986, Kenny couldn't consolidate his place in the team and some good performances from Peter Sartori saw Kenny almost a permanent fixture in the Reserves.

Kenny was put up as one of the mandated 3 players (from each club) that VFL Clubs were to provide to the newly created Brisbane Bears. Kenny later lined up for VFA club Williamstown in 1989.
