1894 Reserves

Victorian Junior Football Association

B Section

Clubs: Albion United, Brunswick, Carlton Juniors, Fitzroy Juniors, Hawthorn, Marylebone, North Melbourne Juniors, Preston, Richmond City, West Melbourne.

The Victorian Football Association's Second Twenty or Reserves team competition folded during season 1893.
This would have been due to the severe economic depression felt in Victoria due to the sudden collapse of the Land Boom. Money was tight and club revenues dropped.

The Carlton Juniors were formed in 1894.
In 1909 they were facing disbandment, as they had lost the use of the Carlton Cricket Ground.
The V.J.F.A. stepped in to save them, and in an artcle in the Herald April 30 p3 of that year, it is mentioned that they are the oldest club in the V.J.F.A., and had been in existence for 15 years.

Carlton Juniors' home game is in Royal Park.
Unknown at this stage whether there is a direct connection with the Carlton Football Club.
Although the VFA “reserve” clubs did run as separate entities.
They had their own presidents, secretaries, treasurers and committees.
