After the 2008 Trade Week deal involving Robert Warnock moving from Fremantle to Carlton, the Blues had picks 6, 40, 65 (see note below), 80 and 85 to use in the 2008 National Draft.
Pick 6: Chris Yarran, Swan Districts
Pick 40: Mitch Robinson, Tassie Devils
Pick 65: Rhys O'Keeffe, North Adelaide
Pick 80: Caleb Tiller, Murray Bushrangers
Pick 85: Pass
Carlton's first round selection, pick 6, was used on Swan Districts' lightning quick forward/midfielder Chris Yarran.
Midfielder Mitch Robinson, from Tassie Devils, was taken at pick 40.
Pick 65 was used to recruit North Adelaide's Rhys O'Keeffe, a running half-back.
The club's final selection in the draft was used on Caleb Tiller, a bottom age recruit from the Murray Bushrangers with a future as a key position player.
Carlton passed on their last remaining pick, selection 85.
NB * Pick 65 was originally pick 69, however changes to the primary lists of other AFL clubs saw the selection reallocated.
