Grant Povey a member of Claremont's 1987 premiership side (also in this side was ex-Blue Peter Higgins) was Carlton's 5th Round selection at pick No. 68 (our third pick) in the 1988 National Draft and was given Number 10 at Carlton and in 1989 played 15 Reserve games for 11 goals, he would only play a futher 4 games in 1990, before ending up at Prahran in the VFA. In 1994, Povey would head back to WA and play with Claremont in the WAFL.

He played his 2 'Night' games for Carlton in the 1990 Quarter and Semi finals against Sydney and North Melbourne.

In 1998, Grant Povey was coaching local WA team Mt Lawley.

Povey's original junior club was Scotch College, WA.
