Game Review
Wayne Johnston returned from injury to be best on ground as Carlton demolished the hapless Brisbane Bears on this cold and showery Saturday afternoon at Princes Park. Beanpole ruckman Justin Madden had a picnic, giving his runners first use of the ball at stoppages and directing play at will. But it was “The Dominator;” Johnston who shone for the home side, ranging far and wide from the centre to provide express service of the football to key forwards Peter Sartori and Stephen Kernahan. Each kicked five goals in a scoring spree that evened up the Blues’ season at 6 wins and 6 losses, and provided a much-needed percentage boost.
The Blues jumped back up to seventh with this win, keeping the faint flame of their finals hopes flickering – just.
