In the last game before the Sectionals, Essendon pounded the struggling Blues at Princes Park. Keeping us to one goal in the first half, they powered away to a 59-point win to leave the Blues in 7th spot on the ladder, with a percentage of 48.3Powell was named as one of the better players by one newspaper. H. Powell was named in the Carlton squad of 23 for this game.
