Game Review
Carlton, coming off its upset victory against Melbourne in Round 18, went in as favourites against the 14th placed Hawks (something that was a rarity in this era). Unfortunately the Blues still seemed to be in celebration mode, while the more switched on Hawks raced away to a 5 goal lead at quarter time after dominating the clearances. This was extended to 8 goals at haf time before the Blues once again fought their way back into the match. They would get as close as 17 points late in the match and waste opportunities to get closer, before the Hawks responded with a goal to run out 23 point winners.Brendan Fevola kicked 8 goals (an equal personal best) to further extend his lead of the AFL goal kicking. Matthew Lappin continued his return to form with a career high 36 possessions, while Nick Stevens had 35.
