Game Review
Full-forward Vin Gardiner booted five goals in this emphatic victory over last-placed Geelong. Our second win in succession kept the Blues in third place on the ladder. However, the highlight of this round of VFL matches was the extraordinary effort of Essendon's Cyril Gove - who started the afternoon by riding a horse in a hurdle race at Moonee Valley at 2 pm. He was then driven to the East Melbourne Football Ground in time to play in defence for the Same Old against South Melbourne. That night, Gove stepped into the boxing ring at Festival Hall, and was narrowly beaten on points for the Victorian amateur championship!
At the end of this round Carlton were in 3rd spot on the ladder with a percentage of 115.3.
