Game Revie
Continuing his rich vein of form, Alex Jesaulenko kicked 10 goals in this match, which was a closer contest than the scores indicate. 'Jezza', and Carlton's amazing accuracy from 32 scoring shots, made the difference, but Fitzroy had 35 shots at goal and were well in the match until three-quarter time. The mercurial Syd Jackson also kicked six goals for Carlton, while John Murphy (father of Marc) kicked six for Fitzroy.By then, Jesaulenko had scored 40 goals in the first six rounds, and the experts had awarded him five Best-on-Grounds. The Blues were in second position on the ladder with 5 wins and one loss, behind the undefeated Collingwood.
Tuesday's Age reported,
"Carlton wingman Bruce Doull is not expected to be available for at least ten weeks. Doull, who had his shoulder pinned in an operation on Saturday night, will not have the pin removed for six weeks, and is expected to be off the training track for two months."
