Game Review

In a heart-stopping finish, rover Ron Cooper marked right on the final bell and goaled, as the crowd invaded the ground. It was a team-lifting win that gave the Blues a 4-3 record.

"Carlton defeated Essendon with the last kick of the day, and that kick made after the bell had rung. The seconds were ticking off. Essendon were a point ahead. The ball went out of bounds near the Essendon goal. From the throw-in Carlton forced a behind. The scores were level. The kick off was flummed. Hale surged into the ball could not handle it, then finally got it to Ron Cooper. A mark was awarded and the bell rang. Cooper got the goal and won the game with his kick after the bell."
(Sporting Globe June 07)

At the end of this round Carlton were in 6th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 120.2.
