Game Review
A pre war match between these clubs would have drawn an attendance of close to 30,000. The ground was in splendid condition with a slight breeze favouring the Lygon Street end. After losing to South Melbourne earlier in the year, the Blues succeeded in revenge in the return bout. Carlton could thank a last quarter of 4 goals 3, almost doubling their score to three quarter time, whilst keeping South scoreless.
Carlton remained 5th out of 6 teams after Round 8 with a percentage of 103.8, but with the win moved 8 points ahead of the Tigers on the bottom.
