Game Review
After the thrill of defeating the most universally loathed team in the VFL, it was always going to be a little difficult to be 'up' for this match. So a narrow win against the lowly Fitzroy was not altogher that disappointing. (Did Robert Walls play for the Lions?)Carlton hung on to defeat Fitzroy by two points in a thriller at Princes Park and Blues rover Trevor Keogh was largely responsible for the victory. Keogh gave a great kick winning display and continually drove the Blues into attack. - Inside Football Player of the Year.
Carlton held their record of wins over Fitzroy at "home" intact, but only just, as the well disciplined Lions stormed home again to lose by a mere two points. This was their fifth loss by less than 11 points, Carlton moved up three places on the League ladder as a result of their win and are now within striking distance of the Five, with still 14 rounds of matches to go. It was the second win under playing captain-coach Alex Jesaulenko, buy they'll be fully tested in their match against North Melbourne. - Football Record.
