Game Review
In Carlton’s worst performance of the season, Scott Camporeale (4 goals) was his team's only multiple goal-kicker. The Blues were never really in this match, with Essendon ahead by 42 points at half time, and it just got worse from there. On the upside, there was the following week’s clash against struggling arch-rivals Collingwood to come. Essendon no doubt believed that they had Carlton's measure after this game, but the two sides were destined to meet again in the finals - with disastrous results for the Bombers. Carlton fell to 10th at this point, with a percentage of 92.7%.
