Game Review
Carlton would regret a wasteful first half in front of goal in this opening match to Season 1932, kicking 11 behinds. The Blues matched Fitzroy for three quarters, but when a faster and stronger Maroons outfit attacked hard in the last quarter, we couldn't hold them off and lost by 16 points.Fast and rugged play marked the opening quarter with neither side making good use of the ball and kicking poorly. The sides were evenly matched and only four points separated them at quarter time. An even second quarter followed, until consecutive goals to Crowe, Crisp, Clarke and Vallence saw Carlton ahead by 21 points late in the quarter. But three late goals to Fitzroy made the difference only one point at the main break. In a wasteful quarter from both sides, a total of 13 behinds had been kicked.
The third was another closely contested and even quarter and more accurate kicking at goal from Carlton gave us a four point lead at the final change. However, four goals to Fitzroy early in the last quarter gave them a comfortable lead of 21 points. Two late goals to Vallence gave the Blues some chance but a final goal to Fitzroy sealed a 16 point win.
At the end of this round Carlton were in 7th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 82.4
