1874 June 01
Thomas William Templeton died after a short illness at his parents' residence, Palmerston Hotel, Carlton, aged 21 years and 14 days on June 01. (Australasian June 06 p27/Argus June 15 p1 )
Only son of Captain E. Templeton.

The funeral of Thomas Templeton took place. The funeral procession moved from his residence the Palmerston Hotel, corner of Palmerston and Canning streets Carlton, to the Melbourne General Cemetery. (Argus June 03 p12)
1874 June 04
The Herald (p5) reported Templeton was given a military funeral by members of the Carlton Rifle Corps as a mark of respect to their former corporal.
The Headquarter's Band played the "Dead March," the corps' drum and fife band and Major Radcliffe also attended. A rifle volley was fired over his grave.

The Herald (p3) reported that the Carlton First Twenty players wore crepe on their left arms as a mark of respect to the death of Mr. T. Templeton hon. sec. of the Carlton Second Twenty.
This was the June 06 match, St.Kilda v Carlton at St.Kilda.
