Victorian Junior Football Association (V.J.F.A.)

At a special meeting of the V.J.F.A. held on Friday, applications from only seven clubs had been received..

Clubs; Carlton Juniors, Coburg, Fitzroy Juniors, Footscray Juniors, Northcote, Pembroke, and Yarraville.

"The secretary Mr. W. Faucett drew attention to the fact that only seven clubs had applied for admission.
The small number was due to the difficulty on the part of many junior clubs of obtaining enclosed grounds." (Argus April 07 p17)
Discussions with Pembroke are underway to join the Juniors despite them not being able to find a suitable enclosed ground.
All delegates have now agreed to play on Pembroke's unenclosed ground at the south side of the Lake Oval.

Rose of Northcote have joined to take the eighth spot.

Carlton Juniors v Carlton on the Carlton oval, Princes Park.

April 12 Friday
"Owing to the building boom in Brunswick, unenclosed areas suitable for footballing are now scarce, unless the V.J.F.A. approves of the present ground utilised by the Albert Star Club,
this smart junior team will be debarred from accepting Secretary Fawcett's kind invitation to play with his association this season."

"This season the V.J.F.A. intends controlling two sections of junior clubs.
Eight clubs will figure in the A section, and six in the B section.
Those taking part in the latter are not necessarily bound to provide enclosed playing grounds.
Collingwood Juniors and City Tattersall's will not be represented with the association this season."
Murmur/City Tattersall's was associated with bookmaker John Wren. Next year the Victorian State authorities would crack down on City Tattersall's and the Collingwood tote.

"The Carlton Juniors are desirous of playing any club having vacanies on the 14th or 28th of this month.
Mr. M. Cairnes of 12 Avoca Street, South Yarra will be glad to hear from the secretary of any club willing to arrange a match."

George Smithams will skipper the team, and, with the combined efforts of Foote, Lovelace, Barter, and Calder, together with some smart local youths,
he has no doubt that they will make a bold bid for the V.J.F.A. pennant.
R. Barter and the hon.sec. will act as their delelgates, and when not engaged, the Carlton oval will be at their disposal for home matches."
