Alfred 'Alf' King was a half-forward from Melbourne Grammar and Brunswick Amateurs. He played five games for Essendon in 1961 and a further eight in 1962 before injuring his knee in Round 12, 1962. In total, he would play 13 games and kick 6 goals for the Bombers.

King transferred to Carlton in 1963 where he played in the Reserves before again succumbing to knee problems.

He didn't manage to play a senior game for Carlton.

He later became a leading Victorian bookmaker.
