Glen "Chisel" Bowyer was a popular player at Carlton over his short stint from 2004-2005. Wearing the Number 18, Bowyer was once a fine half back for Hawthorn, but over 2002-2003 left the game of AFL. In this time he played 35 games and kicked 14 goals for the Hawks. After he left the AFL scene, this period in Bowyer's life received a bit of press attention, with some international travelling and a near death car accident, but come the end of 2003 Bowyer was attending pre-season training for Carlton in pursuit of another chance at AFL level.

Bowyer didnt play competitive football until he was 15 and only took it up to lose weight. He made his debut for the Hawks in 1999.

Drafted with Pick 63 in the 2003 Draft, Bowyer played 20 games with the Blues as a back pocket or defensive midfielder, finishing up with 55 games of AFL before retiring. One game in particular, the draw against Port Adelaide in 2005, was a highlight of Bowyer's time at Carlton where he kept the dangerous Peter Burgoyne out of the second half.

Bowyer, another popular player recruited at the end of 2003, who couldn't command a permanent spot in the struggling Blue outfit, played very well for the Bullants when not selected for Carlton - well enough to win the Best & Fairest Award in 2005. Bowyer retired at the end of that season after a nasty vertebra injury sustained at the Northern Blues.

Bowyer graduated to AFL ranks via Wodonga and then the Murray Bushrangers U/18's.
