Greaves was born and recruited from Williamstown. He later played for West Perth, from which Carlton recruited him from. All up, Greaves played 9 games after debuting in Season 1916 and he wore guernsey #19.

The biggest highlight of the career came in just his 4th game, when Greaves would play in a Grand Final - had the Blues won he would have broken the record for Carlton's 'quickest' Premiership Player. Alas, it was not to be and Greaves finished up the year later.

In May 1919 Harry Greaves was cleared to the VFA club Footscray.

Greaves passed away on the 5th April, 1974 aged 79.
