Maplestone was named in most of the Carlton Second Twenty team squads for this season, generally 24 or 25 players.
He was also named in the few Second Twenty squads published in 1892. The economic depression had set in with clubs hit hard financially and the Reserves competition was reduced to seven teams.
Could be cricketer, "Harry Maplestone - youth of some 21 years of age, who hits like a horse kicking, and bowls a devilish nasty catapult-like sort of ball. He formerly played with Carlton, but this season has thrown his lot in with North Melbourne."
