Rhodes was recruited from Princes Hill and graduated from the Blues U/19's to the senior team.
He also wore guernsey No. 42 whilst playing with Carlton's Reserves team in 1953.

"Carlton seconds full back Ron Rhodes, was admitted to the Royal Melbourne hospital with bruised kidneys after a seconds match on Saturday against Hawthorn.
Rhodes probably will leave the hospital today."
He died on May 24, 2021.
