Carlton won our fifth Reserves Premiership.
A hard fought first half saw the Blues trail by 15 points at half time. In the third term with Harry Caspar winning in the ruck, the Blues got great drive through the centre and via the flanks. Carlton's forwards took full advantage, and wiped off 6 goals by the last break to lead Essendon by 4 points. The last goal by Gerald Burke put the Blues in front. In the last quarter the Blues were too quick, with brilliant positional play and long kicking they attacked constantly and added 5 goals. Reserves First Semi Final
Carlton played North Melbourne on the M.C.G.
The Blues were too fast and purposeful for North, and won by 26 points.
Peter Bevilacqua was best on the ground who roved to Carlton's winning rucks with speed and anticipation. The Blues should have won by more but were inaccurate especially in the third term. Defenders Ken McKaige and Harry Dern replused many of North Melbourne's attacks in the final quarter.

Reserves Preliminary Final
Carlton played Richmond at the M.C.G.
The Blues handled the greasy conditions better than the Tigers. Carlton won in the ruck, and their use of the ball into the forward line was more systematic. Richmond threw everything at them in the final term and reduced the lead to five points, before the Blues steadied with two late goals by Johnny Blake to run out winning the match by 16 points.
