The Blues all but avoided the wooden spoon with this comfortable 21-point win against everyone's favourite opposition of the era. Suddenly, it had turned into a remarkably even season between the bottom four teams, and it was still possible for Carlton to finish as high as fifth.At the end of this round Carlton were in 7th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 72.4.
