Game Review

Played in a mini-blizzard, with sleet and hail howling in from Corio Bay, all 12 goals in this game were scored to the one end. The Blues were the only team to score at the 'bad' end, with a solitary behind in the last quarter.

Geelong Blizzard Keeps Team In
The Age says it would be interested to know what sort of 'adverse weather' would be sufficently 'adverse' to cause the League to put off a round of matches. Obviously much worse than the worst Saturday for rain, sleet and snow that anyone could remember coming to Victoria, which has its fair share of miserable weather. Conditions were so adverse down at Geelong that the home players were virtually cowering in the pavillion, reluctant to leave the shelter. They soon warmed up, but were beaten by Carlton to the tune of six points. - 100 Years of Australian Rules Football.

This was the third game in a row for the Blues to be decided by less than a goal. We continued to cling to third place on the ladder behind Collingwood and Fitzroy, with Essendon and South Melbourne next, four points behind.

At the end of this round Carlton were in 3rd spot on the ladder with a percentage of 98.5.
