Game Review
The Blues were fortunate to escape fom Windy Hill with the 4 points taking the match by virtue of better conversion despite trailling 21-26 on scoring shots. Essendon opened with 8 behinds before scoring their first major with their last shot of the first term. Thereafter the teams were evenly-matched throughout in a game played in very heavy conditions.
Late in the last quarter with scores tied Blues newcomer
Peter Fyffe was slung when attempting to clear from near his own goal-line only to see his kick slew through for a Bomber behind. Fortunately Carlton managed to get the ball forward where
Brent Crosswell produced the match-winning goal.
