Game Review
Led by rover
Rod Ashman - who kicked a career-high six goals - Carlton blasted Geelong by 12 goals at Princes Park. On a cold, showery Saturday afternoon, the Blues adapted to the conditions far better than the Cats, and increased their lead at every change to maintain second place on the ladder (by percentage) to Hawthorn.
Carlton scored their third successive win over Geelong and raced away to record their second highest ever score against the Cats, who must have disappointed even their most fanatical supporters. Carlton kicked their ninth 100-plus score of the season and their best tally since the record breaking 1972 Grand Final against Richmond. It was the highest score kicked against a Geelong side since 1969. The Blues were far too strong all over the field.
