Game Review

A ripping four-goal third quarter from the Blues tore this game from Melbourne's grasp. The remarkable Billy Leeds top-scored with three goals, while the brothers McShane both had strong games again.

In other results, lowly Geelong accounted for ladder-leaders Fitzroy at Corio Oval, and Collingwood beat Essendon to all but end the Dons' finals hopes. Although third, the Blues were now only two points shy of ladder leadership, with an improving percentage of 103.3.
