Game Review
The Herald (Saturday) described the attendance as "large."As designated by the VFL in this era, the ladder at round 14 determined the competitors for a round of 'Sectional' games. The results of the sectionals would provide the teams for the Semi-Finals, effectively minimising the value of the ladder.
As expected, the top-of-the-table Maroons had little trouble with the lowly Blues, although when they met again the following week in the first round of the sectionals things would be vastly different.
Fitzroy win minor premiership by beating Carlton by 23 points. Umpire sets pattern by giving first seven kicks of game as free kicks. - 100 Years of Australian Rules Football.
At the end of this round Carlton were in 7th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 53.1.
