Game Review
Greg Hardie replaced Terry Board (strained shoulder) in the selected side. The previous week, the crowd at Carlton's match against Geelong had been thrilled by the duel between champion ruckmen Nicholls and Farmer. On this Saturday afternoon it was the little men in Adrian Gallagher of Carlton, and Bob Skilton of South Melbourne who starred for their respective sides.
Playing at home, and needing to consolidate our place in the top four, Carlton was expected to win comfortably over the eighth-placed Swans. But Skilton's men came out firing, and the Blues wayward kicking for goal didn't help. Although Carlton had four more scoring shots, we lost by 17 points and tumbled back down the ladder to sixth place.
Coach On-Air
Carlton coach Ron Barassi sat in press box and relayed messages to the Blue's runner by walkie-talkie. Ron received plenty of advice from the crowd standing in front of the press box's open window.Team
