Game Review
Richmond won the toss and kicked with the wind and had two goals on the board in quick time. Valentine replied with a soccered goal. The Tigers then scored another two goals, and all of their four goals were the result of free kicks. The Blues trailed by 21 points at quarter time.Morris and Fisher kicked goals then Baud scored the Blues' fourth from a difficult angle, then O'Brien kicked one as a result of nice play by McGregor and Fisher. With the wind the Blues scored 4.4 to 0.1 to lead by 5 points at the main break. Carlton could not prevent Richmond outscoring the Blues, but Morris and Valentine both goaled to keep the Blues in it and the Tigers led by 3 points at three quarter time. The Blues soon wiped off the deficit through Dick, then Morris goaled and Carlton led by 10 points with the wind at their backs. Richmond was inaccurate in front of goal and reduced the lead to six points, Carlton held that advantage 'till the bell had rung.
Baud managed a sixer from an angle where the two perpendiculars looked as one. It was given to him by a pretty pass from Fisher, who was prominent throughout the piece. His sixer came as a result of a spectacular running shot some forty yards distant.
Morris, Carlton's Tatura find, is proving pure gold, and unalloyed. Following his brilliant debut against Essendon, he again proved the goods against Richmond, roving cleverly, and putting in his spare time by getting three of the best.
Valentine made a timely reappearance for the Blues, and his brace of goals came opportunely. Brown, Dick, O'Brien, Haughton, Hammond, McGregor and Lowe were aloso noticeable amongst the others."
