Game Review
Scores were level at three-quarter time, but with the aid of the breeze, Carlton finished better than the Saints to win by 21 points.
Frank Bateman
"Frank Bateman, Carlton's new follower, played another unspectacular but effective game against St.Kilda. An Intelligent, unselfish player, he took the burden of the heavy ruck work. When resting a forward pocket he frequently shepherded and hit the ball to better-placed team-mates. His two goals came from delightful high marks in the gal mouth." (Herald August 22 p13)
