Game Review
The Blues tightened their grip on top spot on the ladder with another confidence-boosting win - this time over the Shinboners at Arden St. Harry Vallence starred again with 7 goals - thanks to the dominance of rovers Mick Price and Jack Hale.
North, last on the ladder, were right in the game until three quarter time, thanks in part to Carlton's inaccurate kicking. The Blues then got into top gear and slammed on 7.8 to 1.0 in the final term.
The Age said; "Carlton this year are fielding a remarkable even eighteen, and again on Saturday there were no "passengers" in the side. Cooper who is experiencing his best season with the Blues, was in grand form, his superb passing and ability to create the loose man often giving North a headache. Vallence shone at the goal front, and Crisp (centre) initiated numerous attacks. McInnes, who is a "find", was dashing and fearless at half-back, and others more prominent than their team mates were Francis, Anderson, and McIntyre, in defence; Baxter, Price, and Hale, in attack, and McLean following."
