Wearing guernsey #8, Jack Keily played 4 games for the Blues after debuting in 1918. He is the younger brother of Mort, who spent some of his time wearing the Navy Blue #8 as well.

Keily was born in Carlton, but recruited from Havelock (north of Maryborough in country Victoria).

The Age April 25 1919 (p8) reports that Keily of Carlton is training with Williamstown.

The Williamstown Chronicle June 10 1922 (p3) said Keily was badly hurt in the game against Northcote and may not play again. Keily (Carlton) was named in the back pocket in the match against Brighton the previous Saturday.
However Williamstown played Northcote (Chronicle June 03 p3) on the following Monday in which he was injured.
"No man was playing better against Northcote then Keily. His marking and kicking, along with his well-timed dash, were telling their tale, unfortunately, the injury he received was a very bad one and will keep him out of the game perhaps for all time." (Chronicle June 10 1922 (p3))

The Williamstown Chronicle (August 05 p3) reported that Dan Keily is now on crutches and progressing well. Is this the same player or is Dan a nick-name or a middle name?
