Next week June 25, Victoria played Western Australia on the MCG.Bert Deacon, Jack Howell and Ern Henfry were the Blues' representatives in the 87 point thrashing of the Sandgropers. Bert Deacon suffered a leg injury and was replaced by Collngwood's Bob Rose at three quarter time.
As all VFL games were supended, some teams played country matches. Saturday's Sporting Globe carried three quarter time scores of the Geelong v Hampden League, Fitzroy v Central Goulburn Valley, Footscray v Mid Murray, Melbourne v Combined Ballarat and Collingwood v Mildura.
Brisbane Match
Interestingly Carlton played Essendon in Brisbane on the Exhibition Oval.£5,000 was spent on staging the exhibition match.
The Blues caught the plane for Brisbane on Monday morning.
A fast paced game on a hard but small ground.
Carlton wasted opportunities earlier, but were right in it in an exciting final term with Essendon kicking the sealer late in the game.
