Game Review

Carlton controlled this match from the first bounce on a fine autumn day at Princes Park. 'Turkey' Tom Carroll kicked 5 majors to head the VFL goal-kicking list, and the Blues sat in sixth - out of the four only on percentage.

Bob Crowe gave Carlton one of his best games since joining them in 1954. He was impassable in defence. His marking and kicking was a treat to watch. John James was another good defender. Tom Carroll kicked five goals, while Leo Brereton (three goals) and Peter Falconer (two goals), were clever rovers and forwards. - Football Record.
