Game Review

A large attendance witnessed the match.
Carlton lost this game against 5th-placed Richmond and dropped to third place on the ladder.

Rover Lyle Downs was forced from the field due to illness, and later diagnosed as having a strained heart. He was advised to retire but decided to play on. Tragically he would suffer a heart attack after a training session in 1921 and pass away.

Some disgruntled supporters attacked the umpires with stones after the game, umpire Elliott was hit on the head and boundary umpire R. Scott was struck by a missile in the ribs. Although police were guarding the officials, the perpetrators evaded capture.

At the end of this round Carlton were in 3rd spot on the ladder with a percentage of 146.1.
