Thomas "Hercules" Kelly.
The Referee newspaper in Sydney April 28 1925, printed a letter from a reader who mentioned Tom Kelly who played for Carlton in the days of O. T. L. "Lanty" O'Brien.
Kelly came to Carlton from the Fawkner club in 1877.
1877 A muscular and active follower, and not to be denied in a charge, a host in himself, and always doing useful work.

THOMAS KELLY
There was a Thomas Joseph Dart Kelly who played cricket for Carlton,* Victoria and Australia. However, this Kelly was born in Waterford, Ireland on May 03 1844 and emigrated at the age of 19. One would presume he would have been too old to play football the age of 32 or 33.He is the first Australian cricketer to wear a blazer - one that he designed himself.
