Arthur Sanger took over as Coach of the Third Eighteens from Jim Francis and won the 1951 Premiership in his first year. Awards for the year were as follows:

The Canberrans will be coached by Perc Bentley and managed by Ron Taylor of Canberra. The Carlton team will then visit Canberra at the end of the season and play three matches. They will be managed and coached by Ron Sanger.
