Running out in guernsey No. 11, Bill Flynn achieved an interesting milestone despite only playing in the single game. He kicked 3 goals in his only match in 1930, a feat later achieved in 1983 by Daryl Gilmore. These two gents are the only players to have scored three goals in their only game for Carlton.
Flynn became the 469th Carlton Senior League player when he played his only game against North Melbourne at Arden Street in Round 7, 1930. He was 22 years and 261 days old and scored his three majors from the half forward flank. Carlton kicked 15 goals, 23 behinds (113 points), to win by 50 points over North's 9 goals 9 behinds (63).
Bill was born September 26, 1907 and had been recruited from Williamstown and Fitzroy Seconds. He played another two senior games for South Melbourne during 1932 in guernsey no. 31. The first was against Melbourne at the MCG in Round 12 (a win) and the second was a loss against Carlton at the Lake Oval, Albert Park in Round 13, when he was 19th man and played off the bench. He didn't score another senior goal at South Melbourne.
