Robert (Bob) Bosustow came to Carlton from Perth Football Club in 1955 to win Carlton's Best First Year Player award, appear in 20 games in two seasons, and kick 4 goals for the Blues.

His efforts in those matches were appreciated by all Carlton supporters - but not as much as his achievement afterward, when he returned home and fathered his mercurial, spectacular son; Peter "The Buzz" Bosustow.

Bob was a well-built utility who stood 178 cm, weighed in at 86.5 kg, and wore guernsey number 4 throughout his time at Carlton. Back in Perth, he remained deeply involved in local football, Bob played for Kelmscott in the South Suburban Murray Football League in 1961 - 62. He played in the 1962 grand final with Kelmscott running out victors against Gosnells. Then went on to coaching the Kelmscott Bulldogs in 1963-'64.

He passed away on December 28, 1997 aged 63.
