Geelong born Herb Hainsworth, played a single game for Carlton in Season 1902, but managed in that solitary game to kick 2 goals in Navy Blue.

The 2 goals-in-your-only-game at Carlton feat is shared by only one other player in our history; 1996 recruit Craig Devonport. His only game was against St Kilda at Princes Park and Carlton won by 23 points.

A played named Hainsworth was named in the Wellington team to play Geelong West on Saturday 5th. (Geelong Advertiser p3)

1904
The Argus (July 04 p8) reporting on football injuries said;
"..... while Herbert Hainsworth, of Geelong, received a compond fracture of the jaw." (same person?)

The Geelong Advertiser August 03 1908 (p6) reporting on the Barwon v Corio match said, "The Riversiders were led by Herb Hainsworth ...."
Hainsworth was named among the best players for Barwon.


1912
H. Hainsworth (Barwon FC) was a pall bearer at the funeral of a fellow footballer. (Geelong Advert. April 23 p5)


In 1955 a E. Hainsworth was playing cricket for Geelong club City, v .Geelong West in the cricket finals.
