Game Review
A first-up encounter at Princes Park against the Demons who hadn't threatened for several years appeared to be a leisurely assignment. And after some minor concerns in the first quarter, so it proved. The further the match progressed the clearer the chasm is class became evident. The Blues were best served by Swan McKay (10 marks, 4 goals), Barry Armstrong (26 kicks), Trevor Keogh, Rod Ashman, Brian Walsh and Percy Jones.
The last time Carlton played Melbourne in the opening game of the season was in
Round 1, 1947 in which the Blues defeated the Dees 17.20 (122) to 16.13 (109).
